Vocational Education Program Providers

State and public education institutions: colleges, general and higher institutions are entitled to provide vocational education in Georgia. In order to gain the status and get the permission to offer the program, institution is required to pass the authorization, meaning the compliance to the set quality assurance standards. Duration of the authorization is 6 years. 

In addition to education institutions, non-educational institutions: private companies, associations, non governmental  organization etc. if license is granted, are eligible to provide vocational training and retraining programs for 3 year period.  The certification programs, unlike the qualification programs, are more flexible, less in duration, ability of developing the skill that are needed for specific employer. In addition, if requested by the provider, the student’s tuition fee on certification programs, is funded by the Government in priority sectors. This collaboration represents the most applicable and attractive modality in Public-Private Partnership model leading to engagement of employer in development of skills among the employees.

Accessibility to Vocational Education is constantly increasing and it is currently available in all regions of Georgia.

Vocational Education Programs are oriented to labor market and basically aims at developing the practical skills. Graduate of vocational education program is able to get a job or continue education on further level. Duration of the program varies  from one year to three years. Apart from the traditional forms of education, TVET is delivered in real or imitative working environment -at company/enterprise  contributing to development of practical skills. This approach, envisions the shared responsibilities among the college and company and requires the employer’s participation in student selection, education quality control and assessment components. Student, in parallel to learning, is employed in the organization and in certain cases is reimbursed for work, in the form of stipend.
