In recent years, career guidance services in vocational colleges have been closely linked to similar structures
in schools. It became available through a targeted
state program at pre vocational education stage –
school/ Although the program is uniquely
career-oriented / professional-oriented, it is the first large-scale precedent
of cooperation between general and vocational education institutions in the
country, in which institutions of both levels work together to offer quality
services to students. In addition to introducing career guidance services and promoting the development of
professional skills in students, the initiative aims to enhance cooperation
between public schools and vocational schools, strengthen the capacity of
schools, as well as promote vocational education among schoolchildren and life long education.
Career guidance services are available at schools for pupils in grades 8 through 12. The targeted program includes orientation and certificate courses and its main task is to enable the student to try out the profession through practical training in a school-arranged workshop. After school lessons, interested groups, led by school and vocational school teachers, master the basic knowledge of the desired profession through modules adapted for them.
Within the framework of the cooperation, the vocational college helps the school to arrange the material and technical base, as well as strengthen the human resource capacity and develop a curriculum tailored to the target groups. The courses are funded by the state.
